Learn how to keep going and feel good about it.
When I started yoga teacher training, we were told to figure out what our why is. And we were asked to use that for when everything felt difficult and we weren’t sure if we wanted to keep going. When you look at your why, you should be able to make sense of what you are doing.

Since those initial months, I’ve found that my why has continually evolved. I’ve also noticed I have lots of wants. I want to teach to help others find connection to their body and spirit, I want to have a career I enjoy, I want to help people, I want to have something to help during my retirement. I want, I want, I want. I have so many thing that I want out of life.
But then I thought, what actually is my why? These are all great reasons to continue teaching, but what is my why? And how do I find it?
How to Find Your Why
Your why should be your calling. It comes from within you and makes you feel compelled to do the work.
Values
Values are your code of conduct. When we forego our values it can feel like something is missing. Sometimes we take a job just because we need one even if it doesn’t reflect our values. This can make work extra draining because we are missing a piece that makes us feel like what we are doing is important to us.
To align with your authentic self and find your why, you need to first uncover your core values. A simple way to decide what values are important to you are to look at the people you admire. Choose two or three people who you look up to and consider why they are important to you. What values do you feel they represent? Maybe you can take a look inward and find where those values resonate with yourself.
Motivation
Your motivation is how you express your why. It’s what gets you excited to begin the day. Maybe it’s the people you work with, the ability create and use your imagination, or having the freedom to determine how you spend your time.
When we understand our motivation, we are able to take the next step into finding our why. Maybe our why is determined by the motivation to be your own boss, or to see clients excited about what they learned from you. No matter what is, use your motivation to propel yourself further into what you love.
Passion
The passion you feel for something that leaves you wanting more. When you leave room for passion in your life, you can really begin to tap in and find your why.
Discovering our passion should be easy, right? But sometimes we need to take an internal look. What about your day leaves you wanting more?
